Robert Blankson

Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

Robert Blankson is a Speech and Language Therapist registered with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). He has a long‑standing interest in language and communication and enjoys picking up words in different languages to help build rapport and put people at ease. Having grown up in Ghana, he speaks Fante, Twi and Ga, alongside English and French, and occasionally a little Spanish.

Robert particularly enjoys working with young people and their families to help them develop confidence, independence, and effective ways to manage their communication needs. As one of relatively few male speech and language therapists, he actively promotes the profession to other men and works to be approachable and accessible to fathers, especially those from minority ethnic backgrounds. He is especially committed to strengthening fathers’ involvement in their children’s communication development and recognising the important role they play at home and in the community.

Alongside his work with ECASS, Robert is deeply involved in supporting the growth of speech and language therapy especially in Ghana where the profession is still developing and has contributed as a clinical educator for trainee speech and language therapists at the University of Ghana—an experience he values greatly.

Outside of work, Robert has a family with three energetic daughters. He is a keen tennis player and a regular visitor to Wimbledon, which he considers an essential pilgrimage every few years.
