Oracy in the Classroom: Primary
0About this course
Training date coming soon.
This is a 1.5-hour session aimed at Primary staff who want to develop their own practice or who are considering cascading Oracy practices throughout their school. We will delve into what ‘Oracy’ is; take a look at the Oracy Framework and how this presents in practice and consider the types of ‘talk’ that go on in the typical classroom. During the session, the barriers in including Oracy as part of everyday practice will be discussed and furthermore, how to overcome these barriers. An ‘Oracy Toolkit’ for the classroom will be shared during the training with some strategies to take away and use. We will also consider the impact of SLCN on Oracy and discuss how to make Oracy more inclusive and accessible for all children.
This training workshop aims to:
-
- Create an understanding of both what Oracy is and what the Oracy framework entails
- Share strategies to support the development of Oracy in the classroom
- Encourage inclusive practice for children with SLCN to enable active learning and participation
